How much white was allowed prior to the addition of this rule in 2000? No specific rules giving limits to socks or bald faces has been found in old rulebooks so far, (if you have any such rules in print please contact Eastowest!) but here are some photos of registered Appaloosas from the 1960's and 1970's-

1961- rear socks come above the hocks in front

1965- front sock nearly to body, bald face, and white at throatlatch

1969- both front socks above knees at various points
